A Pabna court on Monday denied bail and sent former union parishad chairmanalso vice president of Pabna Sadar upazila Awami League Alauddin Malitha among 23 people to jail in the murder case of an executive member of Pabna municipality AL unit.

Pabna Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-2 Judge Israt Jahan Munni denied bail and sent them to jail at arund 11am.

Apart from AlauddinMalitha, the others accused include seven brothers and nephews of AlauddinMalitha.

Earlier, police had arrested 6 accused from various places and the rest took temporary bail from the High Court on October 3 this month.

As bail expired on Monday, 17 surrendered as directed by the High Court and 6 who were in jail were also produced. After the hearing, all 23 people were sent to jail. Besides, Aslam Sheikh is still absconding.

Incidentally, Saidar Malitha,50, was having tea at Najur intersection of Char Bangabariaunder Hemayetpurunion of Pabna Sadar upazila around 1 pm, (September 9). At that time 6-7 terrorists surrounded him and shot and hacked him to death. Late Saidar Malitha son of late Haran Malithof Char PratappurKabaliparavillage under Hemayetpur in Pabnasadarupazila. He was an executive member of Pabna Municipal AL unit.SaidarMalitha and Alauddin contested the last UP elections and both lost.
