Oxygen connection detached by Ward Boy, patient died in Bogura

A patient was allegedly died for detaching oxygen connection by ward boy at Surgery Department in Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital (SZNCH) in Bogura on at around 11 PM Tuesday night.

The relatives of the ill-fated patient alleged that the accused ward boy help them in taking their patient in the department with the help of a stretcher and claimed at Tk. 200 and they wanted to pay him at Tk. 150 and for only Tk. 50, the ward boy disconnected boy the oxygen connection and consequently, their patient died.

The deceased was identified as Bikash Chandra Das, 18, son of Bishu Das of Shiyalkundi village area under Shaghata upazila in Gaidandha district.

The accused ward boy was identified as Dulu Mia, a ward boy of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital who is now fugitive.

Deceased relatives said that after getting injured from Motor Cycle accident in the evening, he was rushed to Shaghata Upazila Health Complex and while condition deteriorating, on duty doctor referred him to SZMCH in Bogura and after admitting in SZMCH, the worse accident happened in the hospital.

Contacted, Dr. Abdul Wadud, Deputy Director of SZMCH said that the accused ward boy is an irregular employee and an investigation team was formed to investigate the accident and stern action will be taken against the ward boy if it is proved.

Contacted, Selim Reza, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar police station said that the dead body of the dexceased was sent to the morgue of SZMCH and police have been trying best to arrest the accused.
