The new Police Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Md Anisur Rahman, BPM (Bar), PPM (Bar) interacted with the journalists on Thursday at 7:30 in the evening through a meeting at the RMP headquarters.
Newcomer Md Anisur Rahman thanked the journalists for attending the meeting. At this time, he sought the cooperation of journalists to maintain law and order in the city. Journalists provide advice on drug control, juvenile gangs, chadabaza, traffic congestion, robbery prevention, gambling suppression etc.
In the meeting, the police commissioner said that the media is the fourth pillar of the state. Thanks to the media we can be informed about many things that happen. You present an event in a heartwarming and sophisticated manner. You don’t just work for profession, you have social responsibility. By serving true and objective news, you hold a high position as the conscience of the nation.
He said, you know, the police are the servants of the people. The main responsibility of the police is to protect people’s life and property, public safety measures, investigation of cases and proper application of law. In addition to this responsibility, RMP police are by your side to meet the expectations of the people of Rajshahi city. It is my firm belief that RMP police will demonstrate utmost professionalism in controlling and detecting any type of crime. Intelligence surveillance will be increased to speed up police operations.
He also said that since Rajshahi city is bordering India, there is a prevalence of drugs here. RMP will work with utmost importance to implement the zero tolerance policy against drugs announced by the Honorable Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. I want to strengthen and accelerate the activities of community and beat policing to control crime.
I want to strengthen the activities of Cyber Crime Unit, Operation Control and Monitoring Center, Digital Forensic Lab of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police. Moreover, RMP’s operations against juvenile gangs will continue. Anti-narcotics operation will be strengthened in Boalia Model Police Station, Motihar Police Station and Katakhali Police Station to prevent students coming from outside Rajshahi to be exposed to drugs.
Apart from police duties, I will also continue various humanitarian activities from the place of social responsibility. After the police commissioner attended the event, the journalists expressed their gratitude to the police commissioner for organizing an exchange meeting with the journalists. He also expressed the need to support the police commissioner by giving necessary suggestions to make Rajshahi a safe city.
