International Women’s Day Celebrated in Chapainawabganj

On the occasion of International Women's Day 2026, the Chapainawabganj Area Program of Food for the Hungry Bangladesh organized four community-based events in different locations of Sadar upazila. The programs were held in Gobratola, Atahar, Jhilim, and Shahjahanpur areas, drawing enthusiastic participation from people of various professions and backgrounds. Around 600 participants, including teachers, students, adolescents, parents, local public representatives, and community leaders, attended the events. To raise awareness about women’s rights, dignity, gender equality, and women’s empowerment, the programs featured discussion sessions, rallies, and various awareness-building activities. In addition, several recreational games were arranged to encourage women’s participation, and prizes were distributed among the winners. Speakers at the events emphasized that equal participation of both women and men is essential to build a just and sustainable society. They stressed the importance of ensuring girls’ education, strengthening women’s safety, and increasing women’s active participation in every sector of society. Adolescent participants also delivered awareness messages highlighting respect for women, non-discrimination, and equality. Teachers and local leaders present at the events underscored the need for joint initiatives by both men and women to bring about positive social change. At the event held at the field of Jhilim K.M. Government Primary School, the chief guest was Kanchan Kumar Das, Upazila Social Service Officer of Chapainawabganj Sadar. Superintendents of madrasas, members of Union Parishads, head teachers and assistant teachers of government primary schools, and other local dignitaries also attended and spoke on women’s rights, dignity, gender equality, and empowerment. The overall management, coordination, and supervision of the events were carried out by Ripon Kisiku, Area Program Manager; William George Tudu, Area Program Coordinator; and Maha Jabin Jahan, Value Exchange and Relationship Coordinator of the Chapainawabganj Area Program.
