Blankets have been distributed as winter clothes to the students of Swed Bangladesh Intellectually Handicapped School. On Thursday (January 25) at 11 o’clock, Abdul Wadud, Member of Parliament of Chapainawabganj-3 Sadar Seat, formally distributed these winter blankets to the school adjacent to Islampur Bara Indara Mor.
After the distribution of blankets, he handed over a large part of his allowance of 25,000 taka to the school authorities for the welfare of the disabled school as part of the promise he made to his daughter before the 12th National Assembly elections.
These blankets allocated by the District Commissioner for disabled school students were handed over to the children under the management and supervision of freedom fighter Adv. Abdus Samad to prevent severe cold.
In the speech of the chief guest, MP Wadud drew the attention of the program president and said that if we do not treat these students (Handicapped) with affection, we will do injustice to them. So he urged everyone present not to think of them as a burden to the society.
He said, if they are given the same opportunities as ordinary students without discrimination, they can become a great asset of the society. Later, as the representative of Sheikh Hasina’s government, he assured all the students including the teachers who are engaged in teaching without remuneration.
Under the chairmanship of the founder of Swed Bangladesh Mentally Handicapped School Md. Asaduzzaman and conducted by the music artist of the school Md. Sadrul Islam and Special guests spoke at the event – Principal of Chapainawabganj Technical and Business Management College Md. Atiqul Islam, Physiotherapist of the school Dr. Hasan Mahmud, Executive Secretary of the Handicapped School Abdullah Hasan Babi, the teacher of the school Mst. Fatima Khatun and others.
During this time, the former General Secretary of the District Contractors Association Md. Ruhul Amin (Russell) along with the teachers-students and parents of the school were present.
