A total 3500 meters of illegal current nets were seized and two persons were fined Tk 10,000 in a mobile court in a raid on the river Jamuna in Sariakandi of Bogura.

On Tuesday morning, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Russell Miah led a raid on the Jamuna River near Kalitala Ghat and seized 3500 meters of illegal current nets. At that time, two persons named Fatu Mandal (30) and Ashiq Mandal (18) of Kalitala area were arrested with illegal current nets.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Md Rasel Mia set up a mobile court at Kalitala Ghat and collected a total fine of Tk 10,000 from the two detainees under Section of the Fisheries Conservation.

Later, the arrested illegal current nets were set on fire. Municipal Mayor Matiur Rahman Moti, Upazila Fisheries Officer Golam Morshed and Municipal Councilor Khorshed Alam were present at the time.
