Yes, I was talking about a privately owned garden of flowers, fruits and vegetables in Dulhapur village of Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur district.

AKM Shafiqul Islam Manik, a retired BS (Sub Assistant Agriculture Officer) by profession. Recently retiring from the job, he has always been by the side of the farmers during his service. He gave advice and cooperation to the farmers. Some farmers accepted the advice, some didn’t

Before retiring, he is using his knowledge acquired during his service to build a garden of his own on his 12 bighas of land. There are different varieties of fruit trees in the garden. Mango, Latkan, Litchi, Mango, Borai, Malta, Jamrul, Tetul, Grapefruit, Orange, Chukur, Grape, Banana, Coconut, Jackfruit, Guava, Pepe, Lemon, Betel, Dates etc.

Flowering plants include marigolds, roosters, biscuit flowers, roses, leaf buds, dyes. .The garden also has some woody plants like mahogany, eucalyptus, kadam.

He has cultivated different species of fish in the drains or drains used as the boundary of the land around the garden. Coconut and betel trees have been planted on both sides of the canal.

Among the coconut and betel trees, various varieties of seasonal vegetables like barbati, kalmi, jute, raw banana, sajina, cucumber, gourd, sweet pumpkin and squid have been planted.

Going to the ground in the garden, one can see rows and rows of Latkan trees. Malta flowers, fruits and small and large Maltas on the  trees. Mango in the mango tree. Orange in the orange tree etc.

When asked how the idea of ​​gardening came about, the owner of the garden, Mr. Manik said, “I have worked as a BS (Sub Assistant Agriculture Officer)During my service, I have given various suggestions and assistance to the farmer. Some were accepting, some were not. The same thing has been addictive for a long time. So I want to spend the rest of my life with agriculture. ”
