Miscreants vandalize, set fire as well as looted cash take from journalist’s home and business in Bogura on Monday night.
After the fall of Hasina’s government, the identified terrorists in the area attacked journalists’ homes and business establishments, vandalized furniture, set fire to and looted cash, mobile phone sets, motorcycles, and more. About Tk 10 lakh was lost in this incident.
Last Monday night, the incident took place at the residence and business establishment of Ferdousur Rahman, staff of the national English daily The New Nation and reporter of Daily Sangabad Sangash, treasurer of Journalist Union Bogura.
Journalist Ferdousur Rahman alleged that during the fall of Hasina government, 15-20 terrorists led by identified terrorists Chanowar, Khairul Bashar and Israfil, who were identified as associates of the National Workers League of the same area, broke the gate of my house and entered inside and destroyed the doors, windows and furniture.
The motorcycle was set on fire. After that they looted 3 lakh cash, 3 mobile phone sets, TV set, IPS, router, burnt everything in my elder brother’s furniture shop and looted Tk 5 lakh cash and vandalized two shops and garages along with the office of the local business association.
Chairs, tables, Thai doors and windows, fans, shutters, carpets were extensively vandalized and cash of the association was looted. He said that no one dared to stop the terrorists as they had indigenous and firearms.
The president of the association, prominent businessman Matiur Rahman Moti, said that ordinary people and businessmen of the area save some of their hard-earned money here in a week. Meanwhile, they strongly condemned and protested the incident and demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in the incident.
After this incident, President of Journalist Union Bogura Ganesh Das and General Secretary SM Abu Said visited the damaged house and business establishment of journalist Ferdousur Rahman.
