The guardians of some female students of Ramchandrapur Boys’ Government Primary School under Madla union in Shajahanpur upazila in Bogura demanded exemplary punishment and fire from the job of a teacher for sexually and mentally harassing their daughters of play class to class five from a gathering at school premise on Thursday noon.
The alleged teacher was Md. Jahangir Alam, son of Nurul Islam of Ramchandrapur village under Madla union of Shajahanpur upazila in Bogura and serving in the primary school as assistant teacher.
Among the aggrieved guardians, Shymoly Aktar, Ayesha Akhtar, Khadiza Begum, Srmity Akter, Parvin Akter said that the teacher had been harassing the female students for long time and previously he was sent to jail for the same issue and later he managed everything and started his same job.
In the fourth time, he also did his wrong doings and they sought his firing from the job and if he was transferred to another institution, he would conduct such wrong doings to the minor children and they also declared him unwanted in the school, added the guardians.
Contacted, alleged teacher Jahangir Alam said that he was the victim of conspiracy of some local people but he confessed his jail for the same issue.
Head Teacher of the school Nasrin Akhtar said that she verbally informed her higher authority and writing a resolution after the meeting of the school committee, she will place it to the higher authority for taking punitive and legal action against the alleged teacher.
President of School committee Nazrul Islam said that they cannot go beyond law and they will inform the higher authority and they do not want to see such teacher in the school.
Local Union parishad chairman Atiqur Rahman Atique said that such behavior is not expected and demanded his fire from the job.
Contacted, Upazila Primary Education Officer Akram Hossain said that he was verbally informed in the morning of Thursday and he advised the head teacher and president to give him a written allegation so that he could take action soon.
Contacted, District Primary Education Officer Rezwan Hossain said that he was not informed the matter, zero tolerance to such harassment to students and defiantly legal action will be taken soon after investigation.
Contacted, ADC (Edu and ICT), Bogura Md. Arafat Hossain said that he is going to tell concern UNO of Shajahanpur upazila to take action against the alleged teacher of the school.
