A man aged about 45-year-oldwas killed in a mob thrashing while stealing a cow in Pabna’s Ishwardi early Friday. The incident took place at around 2 am on Friday in SheikhparaPurbapara village under Muladuliunion of the upazila.
The victim’s identity was not immediately available.However, it is initially assumed that the house is Bera upazilain Pabna.
Police and locals said that a group of 8 to 10 thieves went to Idris Ali Khan’s house in that village to steal cows.At one point, the owner of the house Idris Ali Khan and his son came out of the house. At this time, when the group of thieves tried to escape, they shouted and chased them.
Locals chased and caught one and others ran away.At that time, the arrested person was beaten up by the agitated crowd and died on the s pot.
Farmer Idris AliKhan said his farm has two cows and a few goats.My son and I woke up at around 2.00am on Friday after hearing goats calling. We went to the farm and saw that the thieves had taken one cow and were trying to take another one.Then we shouted and chased the thieves.At one point, the others ran away but with the help of the locals, a thief was caught.Later he was beaten to death by the agitated locals.
Inspector (Investigation) of Ishwardi Police Station, Hasan Basir, said that the police recovered the body of the slain from the spot at around 7am on Fridaybased on the information of the locals.His name was not immediately available.However, from the mobile phone used by him, it was initially suggested that his house is in Bara Upazila.Data is being verified.
The body was sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
