Mahanam Yagya & Leela Kirtan for 56 hours has been started by the initiative of Town Barwari Haribasar Committee, organized at Sri Sri Radha Govinda Mandir premises in Ghoshpara of the town through Adhivas of Sherpur Municipality under Sherpur upazila of Bogura district.
On this occasion, a huge Mars procession has been taken out on Thursday (March 16) afternoon on the occasion.
The procession goes around the important streets of the town. Member of National Parliament of Bogura-5 (Sherpur-Dhunot) Constituency Freedom Fighter Alhaj¦ Habibar Rahman was present as the chief guest and inaugurated the procession.
In the opening ceremony under the chairmanship of Nimay Ghosh, general secretary of the temple committee, Mayor Alhaj Jane Alam Khoka of Sherpur Municipality Former Mayor Swadhin Kumar Kundu, officer in charge (OC) Ataur Rahman Khondokar of Sherpur police station, Municipal Councilor Badrul Islam Poddar Bobby, Soumendra Nath Thakur Shyam, Sharmin Akhter, Karuna Rani Ghosh, Awami League leader Adv.Tozammel Haque and others spoke in the programme.
A good number of male and female devotees of the Hindu Community participated in the colorful procession.
Journalist Nimaiy Ghosh, General Secretary of Sherpur Town Barwari Haribasar Committee, said that like every year, Mahanam Yagna & Leelakirtan program has been organized for seven days and 56 hours. Already started through residency. This is the 63rd Mangalik session. A total of 10 teams from the country and abroad will perform Naam and Kirtan in this session which will last till March 25. He expressed hope that thousands of male and female devotees of the Hindu community from different districts and upazilas of the country would attend the event.
Therefore, the leader of the Haribasar Committee said that a colorful Mars procession was taken out by inviting everyone to that religious event.
