One agriculture day laborer was killed by lightning and injured one at Phulbari upazila in Kurigram at 11.30 am on Saturday (May 14).

The deceased was identified as Rahim Badsha 48 son of Abul Kashem of Kamalpur Bottola village of former enclave Dashearchara.

The injured day laborer Motiar Rahman son of Kamal Uddin in the same village was immediately taken to Phulbari upazila Health Complex for treatment. Now he is free from danger.

Abdul Khaleque, Moti Miah and Abdus Samad of the village said Rahim Badsha along with 12 laborers were contracted and harvesting the Boro paddy of the land of local farmer Abu Bakar. At the end of harvesting, they were preparing to bring those paddies. Suddenly it was raining and at one stage thunder bolt struck Rahim Badsha. He was immediately taken to Phulbari upazila Health Complex where the attending doctor declared him dead.

Officer-in-charge of Phulbari Police station Bazlur Rahman ensured the incident.
