Lawyer, college student among three killed in Pabna accidents

Three people, including a lawyer and a college student, were killed and five others injured in separate accidents in Pabna on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Asaduzzaman Firoz, 48, a senior lawyer of Pabna Judges Court, Mehedi Hasan Rony, 20, a student of Pabna College and Mozahar Mollah alias Moza, 58.

Police and eyewitnesses said lawyer Firoz was killed on the spot and five others were injured when a CNG-powered autorickshaw collided with a microbus on his way home from the town at Tebunia bazar at around 2.30pm on Saturday afternoon. He was an autorickshaw passenger. He had been working as a lawyer in Pabna court for 22 long years.

He was son of Jamal Sarkar of Islamganti village in Sadar upazila.

Meanwhile, a college student was killed and his friend injured when he was hit by an electric pole while riding a reckless motorcycle in Pabna on the same day. At this time his friend was seriously injured. The accident took place in front of Jalal Memorial Hospital in the town at around 8am on the same day.

The deceased was identified as Roni, son of Rabiul Islam of Singa Palpara area of ​​Sadar and a student of Pabna College. This year he has given HSC exam.

In another incident, an old man named Mozahar Mollah alias Moza (58) was killed when a Rajshahi-bound Dhalarchar Express train from Dhalarchar to Boyra Kashinathpur in Pabna Sadar Upazila hit him on the same day. He was son of Lokman Mollah a residence of Islamgahi in the Sadar upazila.

Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar police station confirmed the incidents and said the bodies were recovered from different places and handed over to the family after taking necessary legal action.
