The third phase re-excavating of the Karatoa river and its right bank slop protection project work was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner of Bogura at DC office area in Bogura on Tuesday afternoon.

Deputy Commissioner of Bogura office and Water Development Board combinedly arranged the inauguration ceremony and Deputy Commissioner of Bogura Md. Saiful Islam was the chief guest while Superintendent of Police of Bogura Addl. DIG Sudip Kumar Chakrabarty, Chairman of District Parishad Dr. Mokbul Hossain, Civil Surgeon Dr. Shafiul Azam, DD of DAE Motlubur Rahman, ADC (Revenue) Nilufa Yesmin, UNO (sadar) Firoza Parvin, General Secretary of Bangladesh Paribesh Andolon Ziaur Rahman were present.

The other guests were the representatives of constricting farms Humaun Kabir, the high officials of GO, NGO offices of the district, Media men, political personalities were also present in the ceremony. The whole programme was presided over by the Project Director and Executive Engineer of Water Development Board of Bogura district Engineer Nazmul Haque and the programme was conducted by land requisition officer Gazi Muyidur Rahman.

The Chief guest said that the project of 47 crore 13 lakh taka was taken as the part of making smart Bogura and also easing traffic jam in the town so that the river gets back its usual flow and natural beauty as well.

The first phase of re-excavating was inaugurated on March 13 instant in Shajahanpur upazila area and second phase was inaugurated on March 14 in Sadar upazila area of the district.
