An Indian citizen was entered illegally into Bangladesh crossing sub pillar no 6 of international main pillar no 1052 of Degreer Char under Dantbhanga union of Roumari upazila in Kurigram was held by BGB at 8.30am on Saturday (January 29) and handed over to police.
The detained identified as Pashan Ali 42 son of late Sattar Ali of village Kuadanga under Sukhchar thana of Dhubri district of Assam province in India.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sources said Pashan Ali entered into Bangladesh territory crossing over the barbed wire, BGB patrol of Dantbhanga BGB camp led by Havildar Farhad Hossain suspected and caught him. He came to Bangladesh for smuggling activities, BGB said.
Subedar of 35 BGB Battalion of Dantbhanga BOP under Roumari upazila Khaledur Rahman admitted the incident and told that the detained was handed over to Roumari thana to take lawful action.
Sub Inspector (SI) and also duty officer of Roumari thana Tofazzal Hossain said a case was filed with thana police.
Officer-in-charge of Roumari thana Montaser Billah admitted the incident and told that the Indian citizen (accused) will send to Kurigram Jail on Sunday morning (January 30).
