Indian ambulance gift to Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST)

A life-saving ambulance has been donated to Pabna University of Science and Technology as announced by the Prime Minister of India.

Rajshahi Assistant High Commissioner of India Sanjeev Kumar Bhati handed over the keys of the ambulance to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. M Rostam Ali in a simple ceremony of the PUST campus on Wednesday noon.

High Commission said at the handed over programme a brand new ambulance, equipped with state-of-the-art life-saving equipment, is suitable for providing quality emergency services and trauma life support to patients on their way to the hospital for emergency treatment.

The ambulance is part of a programme to provide 109 life support ambulances, as announced by the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi during his visit to Bangladesh in March 2021.

On this occasion a function was organised at the Independence Square of the University campus.

The chief guest Sanjeev Kumar Bhati also said that India has helped Bangladesh in the fight against COVID-19 in various ways by providing kits, medical equipment, vaccines, capacity building and experience sharing workshops.

Bangladesh also responded to India’s need for help during the second wave of Covid-19. As a close friend of Bangladesh, India is committed to doing what it can to help Bangladesh to the best of its ability in improving public health and the welfare of the people. “The golden chapter of our two-state relationship is now underway,” he added. In the future, our relationship will be stronger and wider.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. M Rostam Ali said that the friendly relations that India and Bangladesh had forged during the 1971 War of Independence have now gained momentum. He thanked the Government of India and the people of that country for donating the ambulance.

Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof . Khairul Alam, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Md. Habibullah, Transport Administrator Professor. Md. Kamruzzaman, Proctor. Md. Hasibur Rahman, Registrar (Current duty) Bijan Kumar Brahma was present in the programme. Departmental chairmen, teachers-students, officers-staff and media personnel were present on the occasion.

Earlier, Sanjeev Kumar paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary mural Jyotirmoy at the Campus and visited various structures including temples and lakes under construction.
