Implementation of 8-point demand programmes for placement of PMC students

Students of Pabna Medical College boycotted class-examinations and staged a sit-in programme in front of the administrative building demanding 8 points including solving the problem of transport crisis on Thursday.

Students of all semesters gathered in front of the administration building to demand their demands. Among the written demands of the students, the main transportation problem is evident. The agitating students Rahul Kumar Das, Suraiya Sharmin Shanta, Anisur Rahman Nayem said that the college authorities have stopped the transportation for the students who have been studying for a long time due to budget crisis.

Due to lack of own transport, students have to suffer to attend classes regularly. Even after telling the college authorities about all these, they are not taking any action.

Other demands are -strengthening of hostel and campus security system, construction of main gate of campus, quick repair of broken road in front of college, removal of waterlogging in student hostel, provision of clean water supply to hostels, provision of permanent playground for students to play.

They warned that if all these demands are not implemented soon then they will hold a continuous protest programmr from next Saturday.

About the students’ movement, the college principal doctor Ubaidullah-Ibn Ali said that all the work of this college is done by the public works department. In fact, we have talked to PWD many times about the students’ demands. They told us that there is currently a budget crisis. A tender has been invited to address the transport crisis. We are trying to resolve it as soon as possible. Budget will actually solve everything, principal added.
