In Adamdighi, a man named Shahidul Islam Basua (45) tried to commit suicide by poisoning his wife as he did not come home from Dhaka. He was admitted to Adamdighi Hospital in a critical condition. The incident took place at noon on Sunday, February 8 at Tentulia village in Adamdighi.

It is learned that Chalima Begum of Chundipur village in Naogaon was married to Shahidul Islam Basua of Tentulia village in Adamdighi about 25 years ago. They have three sons. His wife Chalima Begum went to Dhaka about two months ago out of pride for her husband. From then on, his wife Pagal Basua repeatedly asked his wife to come back home but she did not come. As a result, last Sunday at noon, without anyone knowing, he fell ill after getting poisoned near the Eidgah field of the village. The locals saw him and rescued him and admitted him to the hospital. Shahidul Islam Basua’s mother Sabida Bewa said that her son and wife were in a very good bus. Although he had been urging his wife to come home from Dhaka for a few days, Basua tried to commit suicide by poisoning her.
