Online news portal ‘Barta Bazar’ and daily Bangladesh Samachar’s Noakhali correspondent Borhan Uddin Muzakkir, who was shot dead while performing his professional duties in Chaprashirhat Bazar of Noakhali’s Kompaniganj Upazila, are protesting across the country and demanding justice Human chain and protest rallies have also been held in Rangpur .
The human chain program was held in the morning on Thursday (February 25) in front of the Press Club, Rangpur. Journalists from Mahgonj Press Club, City Press Club took part in the human chain.
Speaking on the occasion were Mizanur Rahman Biplob, publisher and editor of Chetona71BDNews, President of Bangladesh Trinomul Sangbadik Kolyan Society (BTSKS) Mosaddek Hossain Ranga, Joint Secretary of City Press Club Mostafizur Rahman Bablu, President of Mahigonj Press Club Bablu Nag,Organing Secretary of central committee Shah Alom of BTSKS, S M Liton, General Secretary of BTSKS, Rangpur branch, Mizanur Rahman Jibon,General Secretary of BTSKS, Mithapukur Branch.
The speakers said that in this way, repression and murder cannot be tolerated. The killers of journalist Borhan Uddin Muzakkir should be identified immediately and the arrest and exemplary punishment should be ensured. The speakers demanded an end to harassment of journalists across the country as well as ensuring the safety of journalists.
Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday (February 19th) at Noakhali’s Kompaniganj Upazila’s Chaprashirhat Bazar, prompting police to take action against both sides. Shooting also took place in this situation of third party fighting.
Burhan Uddin Muzakkir, a local representative of the online portal Bartabazar, was among those shot and seriously injured. The 25-year-old journalist was shot dead by one side while performing his professional duties.
Although he was brought to Dhaka for advanced treatment, it was not possible to save him. He did not return to the earth on February 20 (Saturday) as a victim of local politics.
