The people of river erosion hit area of Bazra area under Ulipur upazila in Kurigram district formed a human chain yesterday demanding renovation the embankment of the Teesta River in Kurigram.
The human chain was formed by the side of the Teesta River adjacent the Primary school at noon where about thousand of men, women and children were participated there. Former chairman of Bazra Union Parishad Abdul Kaim Sarkar, union parishad member Abu Taleb Mollah, Head Teacher of the school Abul Kalam Azad, Teacher Mahatab Hossain and Bimol Kumar spoke among others.
The speakers said the embankment was eroded in the last flood. The Water Development Board did not repair till now. Consequently, the Bazra area will be flood affected in the coming flood if not repair the embankment in the current dry season. They urged the authority concerned to renovation the embankment immediately.
