DC (deputy commissioner) here Chowdhury Muazzam Ahmed in a function here said Hello chairman, a function which is held formally can play role to empower the people of grass root level.

“ Since the function is held at nearest place, the union dwellers can get opportunity to say something smoothly. After listening to the problems presented by the local people, the union parishad led by its chairman can solve the existing problems which created sufferings  amongthe communities. In some cases, the chairman can instantly solve the problems considering the greater interest of the people. In this way, the chairman with his or her parishad may be popular to the people side by side with empowering the community men ”, the DC also said.

DC Chowdhury Muazzam Ahmed made the comments while he was addressing a function entitled ‘Hello chairman’ on the premises of Kamarjani Union Parishad under Sadarupazila in the district on Monday as the chief guest

FRIENDSHIP, a Bangladesh base international social purpose organization, arranged the function under its Inclusive Citizenship Sector of Good Governance project funded by Eriks Development Partner and Friendship Luxembourg.

Sadar UNO Mahmud Al- Hasan, deputy director(DD) of Friendship Ahmed Toufiqur Rahman and local Union parishad chairman Matiar Rahman spoke at the event as the special guests while DD of local government division here Md. Shariful Islam presided over the ceremony.

If the problems are solved through evaluating the people appropriately, the people feel themselves empowered and then they can get energy to participate in social development works with enthusiasm   in a bid to push forward the society towards desired development aimed at building discrimination free beautiful Bangladesh.

Terming the function Hello chairman as innovative one and as like as public hearing of the government, DC urged the Friendship to continue the program in the district to make the rural people empowered and honored.

DD Ahmed Toufiqur Rahman in his speeches highlighted the overall activities of the organization elaborately and said the objective of holding the function is to ensure transparency and accountability of the union parishad led by chairman because through the function, the hopes and aspiration of the people and the commitment of the local government bodies are reflected.

A number of officials including program manager Irfan Shakil, assistant program manager RezoanulHaque, regional manager Nazmul Hossain attended the function.
