Happy Christmas was celebrated with festival and prayers in Rajshahi. Christians in Bangladesh are celebrating Merry Christmas with proper religious solemnity and rituals, festivity and prayers.
On this occasion, lighting arrangements have been made in various churches from Saturday evening.Good Shepherd Cathedral Dharmapally, Baganpara, Rajshahi Church at 8 am and 9 am on Sundays. Hundreds of men and women also participated in Christian worship in the Upasanalam.
Bishop Jervas Rosario of Rajshahi Divisional Dharma Pradesh presented the message of religion and highlighted the birthday and activities of Jesus Christ.
He also said that conflict, strife and war do not bring welfare in any way. God told people to obey Him, pray and follow their religion. He mentioned the need for religious discipline and honesty to change oneself and the country. Also prayers are offered from churches for peace in the world including Bangladesh. At the end, devotees bow down to Jesus Christ according to the custom of Christianity.
Father Uttam Rosario led the Christmas liturgy. Brother Ranjan Purification, Headmaster of Muktidata High School, all the Sisters and the people of the Christian community were present.
Sunday (December 25) was a public holiday on the occasion of Christmas. On this day the Christian community attends morning prayers in the church. Apart from this, special food is organized in the house with decoration in the mood of the festival.
Cakes and sweet dishes are arranged in the food menu. In addition to kirtan, religious song sessions have been organized in many parts of the country. Special prayers are also held in various churches on the Saturday night before Christmas.
