Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan has said that the present government has accelerated the development of railways by transforming the railways into a separate ministry in 2011. The train has now turned around.
The Railway Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the elevated and extended platform of Thakurgaon Road Railway Station on Monday (February 22).
Nurul Islam Sujan said when the BNP-Jamaat alliance came to power, it laid off 12,000 railway employees. Threw the railway into ruin. And now the government is developing the railways.
The railway minister said every district would be included with the railways. In the future, it will be possible to travel from Panchagarh to Siliguri in India by train.
The government is now recovering the lost resources of the railways. The minister also remarked that no part of the railway can be allowed to be damaged.
Director General of Railways DN Majumder, Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner Dr KM Kamruzzaman Selim, District Council Chairman Sadek Quraishi, Upazila Chairman Arunangshu Dutto, Thakurgaon Municipality President Anjuman Ara Banna and other officials spoke on the occasion.
