A devastating fire gutted huge goods in a ware house (depot) of Opsonin Pharmaceutical Company at Shibrampur mahalla in the district town on Tuesday afternnon.

Anwar Hossain, senior station officer of Pabna Fire Service, said construction work was going on at a depot (wire house) of pharmaceutical company Upsonin in front of Shibrampur Bangladesh Eidgah. The fire was begun from the electrical line on the second floor of the four-storey building at around 4 pm, said fire service officials.

The fire spread around within moments. After receiving the news, 6 units of Pabna and Atgharia Fire Service went to the spot and brought the fire under control after trying for 2 hours.

The worth of goods of Tk about seven crore burnt to ashes in a devastating fire from the power line, said fire service officials.

Syed Abu Wahid, depot in-charge of Opsonin Pharma Pabna, said the fire broke out around 4 pm. We immediately tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher cylinder. I also informed the fire service and the police. Goods of Opsonin Pharma, Opson Saline and Opsonin Agro were stored in this depot. From here medicines are marketed in Pabna, Natore, Sirajganj and Bogra. Initially, we are expecting a loss of Tk 6 crore in the fire.
