Police recovered the body of Samrat Hossain,29, driver of Nikim Company of Rooppur Nuclear Power Project from Shilaidah area bordering Pabna two days after the disappearance. Police also seized a car.

Ishwardi police has detained Sima Khatun, wife of the deceased Samrat’s friend, for questioning in this incident. On Saturday morning, the locals alerted the police when they spotted a vehicle of Rooppur nuclear power plant in Shilaidah Ghat area of Kushtia bordering Pabna. Later, the police went to the spot and recovered Samrat’s body from inside the Prado jeep. Later the relatives of the deceased went and identified the body as that of Samrat Hossain. Earlier, he was missing since Thursday night.

The deceased Samrat Hossain;s father Abu Bakkar of Madhya Arankola Alhaj camp area under  Ishwardi upazila. He was working as a driver of Nikim Company of Rooppur Nuclear Power Project.

Arrested Sima Khatun is the wife of Abdul Momin of Bansherbadda under Sahapur union of Ishwardi Upazila.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pabna Sadar Police Station Kripa Sindhu Bala said that Kushtia Kumarkhali Police and Pabna Sadar Police Station jointly recovered the body. Later, the body was sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue for post-mortem.

Sima told the police that Samrat came to my house last Thursday afternoon. He told me he had a headache and lay down on the bed. When my husband went to fetch medicine, Smrat touched my body. He died when I hit him on the head and private parts with a hammer in anger and rage.

Later, when my husband returned home, he filled the body in a sack and took it to the car and after roaming around in different places, my husband dropped me from the car and left the car in Shilaidah.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ishwardi Police Station Arvind Sarkar said, Momin’s wife Sima was arrested after raiding Momin’s house in Bansherbada area based on the information of the deceased Samrat’s family and the car owner. His interrogation revealed some sensational information. Efforts are on to arrest the fugitive Momin. Kumarkhali police station in Kushtia will take legal action, he said.

Abu Bakkar, father of the deceased driver Samrat, said that my son Samrat had given employment to his friend Momin and Momin’s wife Sima. Already their jobs are gone. Again, they get jobs as laborers. My son also rented few cars from Nikimat company. I think that my son can be called and killed after stealing money. He said, I am demanding exemplary punishment for killing my child.
