Gaibandha district police led by superintendent of police (SP) started the ambulance service and the distribution of oxygen gas cylinder to the corona infected patients of seven upazilas in the district today.
Office sources said, like other parts of the country the number of corona infected patients is increasing in the district day by day.
As the corona situation is worsening in the district, many of the corona patients have been facing breathing difficulties for want of Oxygen.
Some of the relatives of the patients cannot take the patients in the hospital timely and properly for want of ambulance making them more worried about their serious patients.
Taking this in view, the district police took an initiative to ensure ambulance service and distribute oxygen gas cylinders free of cost to the corona patients.
Accordingly, the ambulance service and cylinder gas distribution activity to the corona patients in the district was launched today.
A launching ceremony organized by district police was also held on the SP office premises of the district town today morning around 11 AM.
Guardian of the district police, SP Muhammad Towhidul Islam formally inaugurated the launching ceremony at his office as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion SP Towhidul Islam said, the district police took the initiative as part of social corporate responsibility.
In past, during the natural calamities like flood, cold wave the police stood beside the affected people of the district and helped them with relief materials and warm clothes to mitigate their sufferings caused by disasters, he also said.
As the corona situation has turned into a pandemic form across the country like the previous times the district police stood beside the corona infected patients with ambulance service and lifesaving oxygen gas, he added.
If any relatives of the patients communicate with the police official assigned by the district police over mobile phone or physically, the oxygen gas cylinder would be sent to the house of the patients without delay free of cost, he said adding that If the relatives of the patients feel the necessity of ambulance, they would get ambulance service also.
The SP also sought whole hearted cooperation of all section of people including the journalists to make the initiative a grand success in the district.
Additional police super RahatGowhary, Additional police super(headquarters) Abu Khayer, officer in charge(OC) of SadarthanaMasudur Rahman, traffic inspector(admin) NurAlam Siddique Sohag, OC of detective branch Manosh Mandal invited guests were present on the ceremony.
The civil society members of the district highly lauded the initiative of the district police to provide free ambulance service and distribute oxygen gas cylinders to the covid-19 patients during the corona pandemic situation.
They also termed Towhidul Islam as human police super for taking such the welfare activity.
