Distribution of books in a festive atmosphere 44 lakh students got books at the beginning of the New Year

A total of 19 lakh books distributed among 3 lakh primary school students while about 25 lakh books distributed among 3 lakh secondary school students following health safety measures amid the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic situation on the firts day of the New Year 2022.

Pabna Deputy Commissioner Biswas Russel Hossain inaugurated the book distribution programme at Pabna Zilla School on Saturday morning. Among others district education officer Moslem Uddin, district primary education officer Khandakar Mansur Rahman and others were present at the book ceremony. While, headmaster Abdur Jabbar of Pabna Government Girls High School distributed books among the newly admitted students its institution in the morning.

Assistant headmaste Harish Chandra Chowdhury, assistant headmaster Harunur Rashid among others were presented at this time.

On the first day of the year, 19 lakh books were distributed among 3 lakh primary school students in the district, primary education officer added. However, not everyone was given the book as a complete set. While the district education officer Moslem Uddin said the number of students in secondary schools in the district is 3,57,964. There are 45.97 lakh books allotted for them. On the first day,77% of the books were distributed all in nine upazilas in the district.

The rest of the books woul be distributed by January 13, the official added. Eighth grade students of Pabna Collectorate Public School and College told this correspondent that they did not get a complete set. It has been informed that he will get it later.

The complete set was not seen in the hands of a third grade student of a primary school in the town.  The teacher said that the rest of the books would be given to them later.

However, the headmasters of some schools in the town told this correspondent that the full set was not received by the students of all classes.
