Crop cutting of Boro 2022-23 paddy has been celebrated under Head to head adaptive trial on Friday (May 19, 2033). These research activities are being implemented by joint collaboration of International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and Rural Development Academy (RDA), in Bogura. Additional Director General of RDA, Dr. Abdullah Al Mamun and Assistant Director of RDA Fakhar Uddin Talukder were present there during cutting programme of Boro paddy.
The crop cutting has been organised under Shahjahanpur Upazila in Bogura District. A total 5 long duration modern varieties have been checked here under farmers’ field condition. The crop production was treated with proper disease & pest management. Suitable Intercultural operation has been done at the right time.
The production of each variety was as like as the BRRI dhan 92 is 1.16 ton per Bigha, BRRI dhan 89 is 1.08 ton per bigha, BRRI dhan 102 is 1.08 ton per bigha, BRRI dhan 29 is 0.88 ton per bigha and BINA dhan 24 is 0.84 ton per bigha.
The farmer as well as the researchers are happy with the production at field conditions. Progressive research activities should be implemented simultaneously. Hopefully this action will help to increase the farmer’s interest to cultivate newly released advanced rice varieties.
