Thousands of commuters are suffering due to bad shape of Fultola-Gunagher link road under Dupchanchia upazila in Bogura.

It is learnt that the construction work of Fultala-Gunahar road has been allocated around Tk 3 crore. Rafiqul Islam & Sumon (JV) construction institute started the construction of the road about 3 years ago but the contractor could not complete the work on time. The concerned authorities repeatedly urged the contractor company but they failed.

After receiving the work, the contractor laid bricks and sand on the road, but after a long time, the sand and gravel rose in the rain water and created small and big holes in many places, making it impassable for public movement.

After discussing the matter with the concerned authorities, Golam Morshed, Executive Engineer, Department of Local Government Engineers (LGED), inspected the road on the spot and told the journalist work on the closed road has resumed construction.

Dupchanchia Upazila Engineer of LGED Md Rabiul Alom said the contractor has been repeatedly urged to consider the plight of the people. They are watching all the time as the work resumes. He hopes the work will be completed soon.

Talking to Golam Morshed, Executive Engineer LGED he said that the concerned contractors have been repeatedly urged to complete all the pending works of the last years. Action will be taken against the concerned contractors who fail to complete the work within the stipulated time, he added.
