To create awareness among the people on gender based violence against Women and Girls a community awareness meeting was held at Dhunat Police Station premises on 19th December 2021.
This meeting was organised by Dhunat Police Station and supported by UNFPA Bangladesh to provide the message of the organisation about the bad impact of violence against Women and Girls.
The meeting was presided over by officer in charge of Dhunat Police station Kripa Sindhu Bala while District Facilitator of UNFPA Tamima Nasrin was speaking in the function as representative of UNFPA.
Women Help Desk officer, Teachers , Students, Youth Volunteers, Marriage registers, upazila Women affairs officer, religious leaders and representatives from local government especially new elected Chairman & members from every union and other people from civil society took part in the meeting.
Tamima Nasrin discussed about different types of violence against women and girls and shared the necessary information among the people where to get legal help against these violence also she aware the people about the National emergency numbers such as 999, 109 and National legal Aid number as well.
Tamima Nasrin also organised a counselling session followed by the meeting with the new elected female leaders and adolescent girls to take action against gender based violence and harassment. And discussed about the possible ways to strengthening the leadership of female leaders and adolescent girls to address these violence within their community.
