A 26-year old businessman was stabbed to death in Handyal village of Chatmoharupazila in Pabna over previous dispute on Sunday, police said.The incident took place at around 9am on Sunday at Handyal Sluicegate area under Handyalunion in Chatmoharupazila of Pabna.
The deceased Hafizur Rahman,26, son of Yusuf Uddin hailed from Hasupur village and was atrader of KhailBhushi.
Chatmoharcircle assistant superintendent of police SajibShahreen confirmed this information.
After the incident, the locals caught the accused Ramzan Ali Fakir,38, son of Isamuddin Fakir of village Baghalbari and handed over to the police.
Locals and police said Hafiz was sitting on a tea stall near a local sluice gate at around 9am. At that time, Ramzan Ali called him to the side of Sluice gate and stabbed him and fled. Hafiz was rescued in critical condition and taken to a local doctor who declared him dead.
Later, the local residents and the angry crowd surrounded the area and arrested the accused Ramzan Ali and informed the police.
Offier-in-charge of Chatmohar police station Jalal Uddin said that after receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered the body and sent to Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination and arrested the accused.
However, it is not yet clear why he was killed. The matter is being investigated.
The police and locals initially believe that the murder happened due to a previous dispute.
