Bone chilling cold wave in Kurigram

Normal life of Kurigram district is being hampered due to biting cold wave which is blowing from the Himalayan region for the last three days.

The light to moderate foggy weather where the sky is cloudy. Although the sun is visible at noon but no feelings of heat of the sun. The ultra poor and day laborers’ are the worst sufferer. They are generally come out from houses in the every morning in search of work and they are compelled to work in the field violating cold wave.

On the other hand second clothe traders are doing brisk business. Rana 36 a trader of Nasar Uddin market said the prices of per bale has been increased in this year causing the retail prices of all second hand warm clothes increase here.

The poultry birds and domestic animals are also cold affected.

Rajarhat upazilaAgriculture weather observer officials said the lowest temperature was recorded at 10 degree Celsius at 6 am on Monday which was lower that the last three days.

The cold related patients are rushing towards Kurigram Sadar Hospital and upazila level hospitals. Most of them are child and old aged persons.

Kurigram Deputy Commissioner Resaul Karim said 35 thousand blankets were given and purchasing of blankets worth taka 1 crore and 9 lakh were given which are being distributed among cold hit poor people through the concern Upazila Nirbahi Officers.
