Terrible bloody clash between villagers and tribals took place in Ambile village of Bhabanipur union under Sherpur upazila of Bogura district on Sunday (January-8) this afternoon.
At least fifty people from both sides were injured. Out of these, 20 serious people have been admitted to local Upazila Health Complex & Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZRMC&H) Hospital in Bogura.
The seriously injured in the clash are- Nurunnabi Sarkar of Ambiil village, Abu Saeed of the same village, Fazlul Haque, Jewel Sarkar, Noor Hossain, Abdul Barik, Jasim Uddin Sarkar, Haider Ali, Milan Sarkar, Farooq Hossain, Asafdaullah Khan, Tutul Mia, Nadu Singh, Pradeep. Singh, Jhampu Member, Jiren Singh, Shant Singh, Rafiq Member, Santosh Singh, Gajen Singh, Nayan Singh, Arjan Singh, Krishna Singh, Pari Singh, Sukumar Singh, Sohana Singh and Dilip Singh. Besides, it was not possible to know the names of the other injured as they went home after receiving first aid.
After investigation, it is known that for a long time there has been a dispute between the local tribals and four villagers regarding the ownership of Shatabigha land in Ambeil Mauza of Bhavanipur Union of the upazila. Even several cases are pending in the court regarding the occupation of those lands. In this matterbetween, Solaiman Ali Master claimed ownership of the disputed four bigha land. He even started planting boro paddy seedlings with the village people on that land on Sunday morning.
And on getting this news, the people of the tribal community got together and stopped them. Later, fierce clashes started between the two sides. From morning to noon, this terrible bloody conflict continued. Later, the police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.They also rescued the injured and sent them to the hospital for treatment.
When asked about the incident, Solaiman Ali complained and said that the innocent people of Ambeil and surrounding four villages have become oppressed due to the torture of some undisciplined drug dealers and land robbers in the name of tribals. They have started taking over the privately owned land of these areas as government special property.
In the continuation of this, my fifteen bigha land was being forcibly occupied. However, since the purchase of these lands, we have been occupying them for a long time. In the meantime, terrorists Kamal Singh and Santosh Singh with their men armed with native weapons including bows and arrows ambushed them while planting boro saplings on four bigha land. He also claimed to have seriously injured twenty to twenty-five persons by beating him severely.
Meanwhile, Santosh Singh, president of Bogura District Committee of Adivasi Parishad, complained that for the past three-four days Hafizur Rahman, Solaiman Ali and Swapan Mia have started forcibly occupying their occupied land with hundreds of mercenary terrorists. He cultivated those lands with a power tiller and was planting saplings.
Twenty to thirty of them were beaten and seriously injured due to prohibition. Along with this, the shops of the tribals in the local market were vandalized. They were even attacked while coming to the hospital for treatment. In such a situation, I am in extreme insecurity. Therefore, the leader of this tribal council complained that he could not go to the police station to take legal recourse.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sherpur Police Station Ataur Rahman Khondkar said, “In this regard, I went to the spot after receiving the information about the clash and brought the situation under control.”
The injured were rescued and sent to the hospital for treatment by calming both sides.” “The situation is normal now.
Besides, no party has filed a written complaint.Action will be applied as per law if I get any complaint regarding this matter”
