Pabna’s accomplished son, award-winning poet Makid Haider passed away. He was 77. He breathed his last at his residence in Uttara of the capital at around 9.05am on Wednesday.
Poet Makid Haider had been suffering from old age complications for a long time. Makid Haider’s cousin Mokhleshur Rahman Badsha confirmed this information.
A politically aware personality of the seventies, Bangla Academy award winning poet Makid Haider left behind numerous benefactors including a wife, a son and a daughter. He was a Bangla Academy award winning poet.
Makid Haider’s cousin Mokhleshur Rahman Badsha said that the body will reach Pabna from Dhaka today (Wednesday) afternoon.
He will be buried at Arifpur Sadar Central graveyard in Pabna on Thursday after the funeral at 8 am. He also said that even though he was much younger than me, we used to play together, go for walks and hang out. He was a very talented and kind hearted person.
Poet Makid Haider was born on September 28, 1947 in Doharpara village of Arifpu in Pabna sadar upazila. His father is Hakimuddin Sheikh and mother is Rahima Khatun. Makid Haider was the sixth among seven brothers.
Makeed Haider’s brothers Rashid Haider, Zia Haider, Dawood Haider, Zahid Haider, Abid Haider and Arif Haider are all involved in the literary and cultural arena.
Makid Haider passed his matriculation from Gopalchandra Institute in Pabna and moved to Dhaka. Then he lived there permanently. He used to work in the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) in Dhaka.
Among the poetry books published by Makid Haider are Rode Vje Bari Fera (1976), Apan Andhare Ekadan (1984), Parth O Pratim (2007), Koffin Lokti (2011), Je Meh Dukhak Dilo (2012), Priya Rokanali (2013), Mumur Shathe Sara Bochhar (2014).
Apart from this he has a book of stories and a book of essays.
