An Awami League leader was hacked to death at noon under Shajahanpur upazila in Bogura on Saturday. During this time, his wrist was severed by a sharp weapon.
The deceased was identified as Parvez Alam (40) a former Jubo League leader and was currently serving as the Vice President of Ashekpur Union Awami League. He is the son of former member Mansoor Talukdar alias Montu Mia of Sabrul area of Ashekpur Union of Upazila.
This incident took place in Ashekpur Mathail Chapar area. After hearing the news of the son’s death, his father is also battling with death due to a stroke.
Hazrat Ali, a local resident and Chairman of Ashekpur Union said that Parvez Alam was riding a motorcycle from his house to Bogura town. When he reached Mathail Chapar, some miscreants got down from the CNG with sharp weapons and started stabbing Parvez Alam.
Then Parvez ran to his house on the side of the road. When he went to take shelter, the miscreants ran away by stabbing him. At that time, Parvez’s wrist was severed by the weapon.
Later, the local people rescued him and took him to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College & Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Shajahanpur police station Shahidul Islam said, “We have come to the spot after getting the information.” “The police have started work to catch those involved.” OC added.
