Awami League candidate wins in two seats of Chapainawabganj

The by-elections for the vacant seats of Chapainawabganj-2 (Nachol-Gomstapur-Bholahat) and Chapainawabganj-3 (Sadar) of the National Parliament were held on Wednesday. Voting in EVMs was conducted continuously from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Awami League candidates were elected privately in two constituencies.

In Chapainawabganj-2 Constituency Awami League’s nominated Nouka candidate Acting (President of District Awami League) Md. Ziaur Rahman was elected privately by getting 94 thousand 928 votes. His nearest rival independent candidate Mohammad Ali Sarkar (Apple) got 25 thousand 399 votes.

Besides, independent candidate Khurshid Alam (Mathal) got 14 thousand 309 votes, Zaker Party candidate Golam Mostafa (Rose Flower) 1 thousand 870 votes, Jatiya Party’s Mohammad Abdur Razzak (Langal) 3 thousand 61 votes and BNF candidate Nabiul Islam (Television) got 1 thousand 473 votes.

Regional Election Officer of Rajshahi and Returning Officer of this election Md. Delwar Hossain announced this result from the District Election Officer’s office on Wednesday night. Total voters in this constituency were 4 lakh 5 thousand 450 people. Out of this, 1 lakh 41 thousand 40 votes have been cast.

On the other hand, in Chapainawabganj-3 constituency, Awami League nominated boat symbol candidate was elected privately by getting 59 thousand 638 votes, District Awami League General Secretary Md. Abdul Wadud. His nearest rival independent candidate Samiul Haque Liton (Apple) got 55 thousand 980 votes. Besides, BNF nominated television symbol candidate Kamruzzaman Khan got 4 thousand 40 votes.

The total number of voters in Sadar constituency is 4 lakh 11 thousand 495 people. Among them, 1 lakh 19 thousand 658 people voted. The voter turnout rate is 29.08 percent.

Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer A K M Galiv Khan announced this result from the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner on Wednesday night.
