The family of journalist Shakil Ahmed was attacked in Thakurgaon. Journalist Shakil’s father, mother, uncle and cousin were injured.

The incident took place at journalist Shakil’s house in Adamnagar area of ​​Kolejpara on Tuesday (February 23) afternoon.

The injured are: journalist’s father Adam Ali (45), mother Shakila Akhter (35), uncle Alam Ali (55), cousin Labu (20).

Journalist Shakil Ahmed is the Thakurgaon District Representative of Daily Us Time and He is also a member of Thakurgaon Press Club and General Secretary of Thakurgaon Online Journalists Association.

According to the family members, Shakil’s cousin Shishu Abid (10) went to plant a big tree on the bank of the river near his house at around 5.30 pm. At that time, his brother along with his neighbor Raisul slapped Abid. Upon receiving the news, journalist Shakil immediately came home and started talking to the family members about the matter. At that time, Raisul, his brothers and some terrorists entered the house of journalist Shakil with sharp domestic weapons and attacked him. Raisul, his brothers and several other terrorists hacked his father Adam Ali, mother Shakila Akhter, elder uncle Alam Ali and cousin Labu with domestic weapons.

Later, the people of the area came forward and Raisul, his brothers and some terrorists fled. Later, the locals rescued the injured in a bloody condition and admitted them to Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital.

Journalist Shakil Ahmed said that in a pre-planned manner, Raisul, his brothers and several terrorists attacked me and my family with domestic weapons. My father, mother, uncle and cousin were seriously injured. I demand exemplary punishment for those involved in this incident.

Residential Medical Officer of Thakurgaon Adhunik Sadar Hospital Dr Rakibul Alam Choyan said four members of the journalist’s family were admitted to the hospital in critical condition. Everyone’s body was hit with a sharp object. Among them, Alam’s condition was critical and he was referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Others are being treated.

Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tanvirul Islam said a police force had been sent to the spot. Those involved in the incident will be brought under the law. Preparations are underway to file a case in this regard.

Meanwhile, Thakurgaon Press Club President Mansur Ali, General Secretary Lutfar Rahman Mithu, Thakurgaon Online Journalist President Tanvir Hasan Tanu and other district journalists strongly condemned the attack on Shakil’s family.
