New vice chancellor of IU Abdus Salam

Professor (Retd.) Of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Dhaka University Sheikh Abdus Salam has been appointed as the 13th Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic University.

The matter was informed through a fax message sent by the Ministry of Education on Tuesday. The University Registrar’s Office has confirmed the matter.

SM Abdul Latif, Registrar (Acting) of the University, said, ‘In a fax message signed by Nilima Afroz, Senior Assistant Secretary, Ministry of Education,  Professor, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Dhaka University Sheikh Abdus Salam has been informed about the appointment of IU as Vice-Chancellor.

With the approval of His Excellency the President and Chancellor, he has been appointed under Section 10 (1) of the Islamic University Act, 1980. He will be the vice-chancellor of the university for the next four years.

The new VC Professor Sheikh Abdus Salam said, “I will try to fulfill the great responsibility entrusted to me with honesty and sincerity.” “I wish everyone’s cooperation.” VC added.
