An initiative has been taken to distribute cash money and hygiene kit boxes to flood and river erosion affected peoples of three unions under Sadarupazila in the district to mitigate their sufferings caused by natural calamities.
SKS Foundation, a local reputed non-government organization, would distribute the cash of TK 3000 and hygiene kits-hand washing soaps, protective face masks, plastic mug, detergent powder for washing clothes, a plastic bucket and water purification tablets to 450 affectected families of Kamarjani, Mollarchar and Gidari unions of the upazila under BGD Emergency Flood Response-2021 programme in cooperation with Save the Children.
On Sunday, an inaugural ceremony on hygiene distribution was also held on the premises of Kamarjani Union Parishad at the arrangement of SKS Foundation.
Sadar UNO Md. RafiulAlam formally inaugurated the hygiene kits distribution activity to the affected families of the unions as the chief guest and Onno Van Manen, country director of Save the Children spoke at the function as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, UNO RafiulAlam in his speeches thanked the organizations for standing beside them with cash and hygiene kits during the post flood period aimed at helping them pass their days and nights without troubles including economic one.
Union parishad members and secretaries, local elite and the employees of the organizations including the journalists were present on the occasion.
Senior project coordinator of SKS Foundation SK Mamun said on Sunday as many as 50 affected families of the unions got the hygiene kits from the foundation and the rest 400 families would get the hygiene kits very soon.
Cash money would be transferred to the respective mobile accounts of the selected beneficiaries of the unions very immediately.
