Police have arrested three members of an inter-district motorcycle thieves’ gang under Sherpur upazila Bogra district. Two stolen motorcycles in their custody were also recovered. Police Inspector (Investigation) Abul Kalam Azad of Sherpur police station confirmed the information at noon on Tuesday (April 20).
He said the first operation was carried out at Kellaposhi Bazar in Kusumbi Union of the upazila on the evening of April 17 on the basis of secret information. Biplob alias Shilu, 26, a member of the inter-district motorcycle thieves’ gang, was arrested at the time. A stolen Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle was also recovered from his custody.
According to the information given by Shilu, raids were carried out in Gujiabari of Dhunat upazila and Kuripara area of Sirajganj Sadar upazila from Monday morning to the next morning. Another stolen Bajaj motorcycle was recovered and two more members of the inter-district gang were arrested.
They are Shariful Islam alias Sharif, 38, son of Abdul Alim of Gujiabari village in Dhunat upazila and Jahangir Alam, 30, son of Shah Alam of Kuripara village in Sirajganj Sadar upazila.
Sherpur police inspector (investigation) SM Abul Kalam Azad said a case has been registered against the arrested. Attempts are also being made to arrest other members of the inter-district motorcycle thieves’ gang, according to the information provided by them. He also said that the arrested persons were sent to jail through a court in Bogura on Tuesday afternoon.
