Pabna Government Edward College Principal Humayun Kabir Majumder has been transferred on a punitive basis for embezzling huge amount of money from various funds.He has been made Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary (MAUSI).

It said that Humayun Kabir has been transferred as the officer on special charge of Maushi until further orders.He has to leave his current job by June 4

A notification in this regard was issued on Wednesday signed by Chowdhury Samina Yasmin, Deputy Secretary of the Government College Branch of the Secondary and Higher Secondary Division of the Ministry of Education.

It is known that in the financial year 2016-2017, Humayun Kabir was accused of embezzling Tk 2 crore from various sectors of the college fund. The Pabna District Anti-Corruption Commission started investigating the allegations.A case was registered against him in June 2021.ACC’s preliminary investigation found evidence of embezzlement of Tk 56 lakh 8 thousand 86.

According to the report of the case, Dr. Humayun Kabir has embezzled Tk 5 lakh 2 thousand from student council fund of the college, Tk 19 lakh 99 thousand 238 from development fund, Tk 13 lakh 4 thousand 42 miscellaneous fund and Tk 18 lakh 3 thousand 706 from private collection fund.

Humayun Kabir was summoned to the district ACC office on March 29 as part of the case proceedings.Khairul Haque, deputy director of the ACC integrated district office, told reporters that the allegations against him have been prima facie proved.

The accused principal claims that he is a victim of conspiracy.The vested interests misled the Director General Maushi and ordered this transfer.
