Dabir Uddin, chairman of Garidaha union, has been accused of embezzling money in the name of giving a job to the village police under Sherpur upazila of Bogura district. He embezzled Tk 1.5 lakh from Maryam Begum, wife of village police officer Zahurul Islam, who was working in the same union.
According to the complaint, Zahurul Islam, a resident of Chandijan village in Garidaha union of the upazila.He worked as a village police officer in the same union. In that respect, Chairman Dabir Uddin showed him various temptations.
The victim, Maryam Begum, complained that in June 2019, a fake appointment was first made to the post of nanny. But in a short time the matter was caught. However, Chairman Dabir Uddin promised to give a job to the village police in Garidaha union.
Asked about the matter, Dabir Uddin, chairman of the Garidaha union of the accused upazila, denied the allegations against him, saying he did not take any money for the job. Besides, the woman has been making these allegations for some time. But could not prove any. Meanwhile, it was not possible to know the statement of the entrepreneur Mizanur Rahman as his phone was switched off.
And Sekendar Ali, office assistant of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer’s Office, dismissed these allegations as completely false and baseless.
Asked about this, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Liakat Ali Sheikh admitted that he had received the complaint and said that the complaint would be seriously investigated. He claimed that if found guilty in the investigation, action would be taken according to the law.
