About five lacspoor people received VGD rice in Kurigram, the gift of Prime Minister

About five lacs poor and distressed people in Kurigram have been received Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) rice in the upcoming Eid-ulAzha. The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has allocated the rice on the eve of the Eid.

The formally rice distribution ceremony was held at Bhogdanga union Parishad office under KurigramSadarupazila.The rice distribution is going on in three municipalities and the rest 72 unions of all the nine upazilas in the district.

Kurigramsadarupazila chairman and general secretary of Kurigram district unit of Awami League Aman Uddin Ahmed Monju,KurigramSadarUpazilaNirbahi Officer RashedulHasan, Sadar Secondary Officer Easin Ali and Bhogdanga UP chairman AlhajSaidur Rahman were present among others.

According to Kurigramdistrict Relief and Disaster Management official sources some 457176 families of nine upazila are getting the rice. Of them, some 57312 families in KurigramSadar upazila,56187 families in Bhurungamari,81019 families in Nageswari,38632 families in Phulbari,43061 families in Rajarhat,83015 families in Ulipur,30310 families in Chilmari,47984 families in Roumari and 30310 families in Char Rajibpurupazila are receiving rice.

Asia Bewa, a widow of Bhogdanga union said the Eid is knocking at our door. I have no rice, what I will eat in the Eid day? Now I am free from tension getting the rice. I am very happy.

Kurigramsadarupazila chairman and general secretary of Kurigram district unit of Awami League Aman Uddin Ahmed Monju said our Prime Minister is working as the poor people will enjoy in the upcoming Eid. She allocates various facilities including rice by VGF card among the poor people in every Eid. So every person will get 10 kgs of rice.

Kurigram deputy Commissioner SaidulArifsaid that the beneficiary families are very happy getting the rice. The rice is being distributed strictly supervised by district administration.
