A proposal for procuring some 80 lakh liters of soybean oil approved

The government today approved a proposal for procuring some 80 lakh liters of soybean oil to meet the growing demand of edible oil in the country.

The approval came from the 26th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) in this year held today virtually with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.

Briefing reporters after the meeting virtually, Cabinet Division additional secretary Md Amin Ul Ahsan today said that following a proposal from the Ministry of Commerce, the state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will procure 80 lakh liters of soybean oil for the current fiscal year (FY24) under local Open Tender Method (OTM) from Super Oil Refinery Limited with Taka 127.96 crore, per liter soybean oil costing Taka 159.95 against the previous price of Taka 159.45.

He said that in another proposal from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) will ensure binding, printing and supply of some 3,53,81,239 textbooks from a contractor with around Taka 94.29 crore.

Besides, following a proposal from the Secondary and Higher Education Division, the NCTB will ensure binding, printing and supply of some 4,45,57,007 textbooks from a contractor with around Taka 180.03 crore.

Apart from these, the CCGP meeting approved three separate proposals from the Road Transport and Highways Division and a cost variation proposal from the Ministry of Railways.
