The victim Rafiqul Islam became the plaintiff and lodged a written complaint with the police station, mentioning the names of seven persons and accusing 10-12 others.

According to the complaint, Rafiqul Islam, son of Ilam Uddin of the same village has been occupying a water body in Shibpur village of the upazila for the last 70 years.  But for some days Dalilur Rahman Dulal of Shibpur village started the claiming to take possession of the reservoir by force illegally. He even filed a case in the court to get possession of the reservoir.

However, at the arbitration meeting of local dignitaries, they agreed to occupy the reservoir as before until the case is settled.

Accordingly, Rafiqul Islam is occupying the reservoir. But on Friday morning, Dulal and his hired men started forcibly fishing in the pond. At one stage Rafiqul Islam and relatives members prevented after knowing the matter. It is alleged that Rafiqul Islam, his brother Touhidul Islam Dulu, sister Anjuman Ara and daughter Rifa Nanjiba were beaten and injured.

Meanwhile, Dalilur Rahman Dulal denied the allegations and said, “We have not beaten anyone.”  On the contrary, Rafiqul Islam and his men have attacked us. In particular, he claimed that one of my relatives named Bidyut was tied to with tree and beaten.

When asked, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sherpur Police Station Shahidul Islam said police were sent to the spot after receiving information about the clash.In addition, action will be taken according to the law after investigating the allegation.
