Protesters distributed sweets overSheikh Hasina’s resignation in Bogura

Quota reformers along with common people have distributed sweets over ex-prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation in Bogura on Tuesday.

Some expressed joy by distributing various food items including chocolates without getting sweets. It is as if they have gained new freedom on this day. Apart from this, a day-long joyous procession took place in Jaleshwaritala, Satmatha and elite areas of the city.

It is known that after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and departure, vandalism was carried out at the residence of Member of Parliament for Bogra-6 (Sadar Constituency) Ragebul Ahsan Ripu in Kalitala area, ignoring the curfew. It is reported that the vandal Ragebul Ahsan Ripu has left home fed up with torture.

There is panic everywhere due to days of violence surrounding the anti-discrimination student movement. There have been incidents of attacks and arson on police outposts and Sadao police stations in different parts of the district. As a result, there is maximum fear among the police.

The presence of traffic police was not seen on the road. Somewhere army personnel and students are standing at the road junctions controlling the traffic signals. Student volunteers controlling car signals.

They said that while returning home in the morning, they saw that there is no traffic police here in the main potion the town. It creates a kind of chaos all around. Immediately some of them took responsibility on four roads. We are fulfilling the responsibility that the traffic police.

Chairman of Gunaher Union Parishad Nur Md Abu Taher said,  “Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami office was closed for about 12-14 years.”  “Jamaat leaders have started opening offices of their life organizations.”

Sadar Police Station on Kabi Nazrul Islam Road and Sadar Police Outpost on Nawabbari Road were extensively vandalized and set on fire. The house of Municipal Awami League General Secretary Abu Obaidul Hasan Bobby, Sadar Upazila Parishad’s various rooms and Sadar Upazila Chairman and District Jubo League President Shubashish Poddar Liton’s personal office, former Upazila Chairman Awami League leader Abu Sufian Safiq’s house were also vandalized and set on fire in Jaleswaritla area of ​​the city.

The angry mob vandalized and set fire to these houses and institutions. Police plaza on Nawabbari road was also vandalized. Also, a foreign liquor store and MA near the Bata showroom in Satmatha of the city. Another liquor shop called Basant on Khan Lane was also attacked and looted.

Meanwhile, police clashed with thousands of people over taking control of Sadar police station. The crowd pelted stones and bricks at the police station. Police fired tear gas and bullets. The clash lasted for two hours from 5 pm to 7 pm. Taking position on the roof of the Sadar police station, the police fired tear gas and bullets at the crowd. At least one hundred people were shot.

Among them, 50 injured people have been admitted to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, said Abdul Wadud, Deputy Director of the hospital. Others injured have been admitted to Bogura Mohammad Ali Hospital and various clinics. At one stage of the conflict, more than 20 policemen stationed at the Sadar police station were rescued with the help of the army.

The police came out of the police station firing bullets and went to a safe place. They were taken to Bogra Police Lines. Then the crowd took control of the police station and set fire to various rooms of the police station. The crowd took control of Sadar police station for hours. Later, the fire service personnel came and extinguished the fire.

Superintendent of Police Zakir Hasan said that the attackers attacked to take control of Sadar police station. All the policemen trapped in the police station were rescued and taken to a safe place. Currently there is no police in the police station. The police station is closed.
