 Overall flood situation unchanged in Kurigram

Flood water receding slowly but the overall flood situation remained unchanged in Kurigram. The river erosion is going on in some points forcing the River side people to go to another places.

While visiting at Sheheber Alga union under Ulipurupazila and found that the mighty and gulping Brahmaputra River is eroding at Haque’s Char area by heavy current of the River. The River side people both male and female are seen very busy to remove their houses and taking hose to safer places by boat. Meanwhile C.I sheds and other belongings took away and the CC Pillars are pulling.More than fifty houses devoured within the last seven days,locals said.

Hanif Ali 22 a farmer of the char of Haque said he has been very busy for the last four days to remove his houses to another place. His parent told him to remove their houses to char Gujimari under Hatia union. He has not received any relief till now.

Arzina Begum 30 a house wife said the Brahmaputra River engulfed her house, cultivable lands and trees five days back. Now I have nothing and I am passing my days like a beggar and she burst into tears.

In addition the river is eroding at Rajarhat,Fulbari,Nageswari and Roumariupazia.

According theRelief section of District Administration some 37 thousand 85 families are marooned. Some 587 metric tons of rice and 24 thousand360 packets of dry food have been distributed.
