Uttering the slogan “Brikkho Diye Shajai Desh Sommriddho Kori Bangladesh”, Tree Planation Campaign and Tree Fair was inaugurated at Shaheed Titu Millennayatan in Bogura on Saturday noon.

District administration and Department of Social Forest combinedly arranged 7-day long Tree Planation Campaign and Tree Fair and Ragebul Ahsan Ripu, Member of Parliament, of Bogura-06 constituency and General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, Bogura district unit, was present in the colourful programme as the chief guest.

Deputy Commissioner of Bogura Md. Saiful Islam presided over the whole programme and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bogura Zakir Hasan ppm, Deputy Director of the department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) of Bogura Md. Motlubur Rahman, noted former Commander of Freedom fighting of Bogura Freedom Fighter Ruhul Amin Bablu, Principal of Govt. Mujibur Rahman Women’s College Professor Md. Rezannabi, District Education Officer of Bogura Md. Hazrat and Others were present as the special guests.

Speakers emphasized on the importance of planting more and more trees to keep the balance of the environment and to preserve the bio-diversity, to ensure employment for the people of the country, to combat natural calamities and to develop socio-economic condition of Bangladesh, there is no alternative of tree plantation.

They also mentioned that honourable prime minister Sheikh Hasina advised to increase the forest in Bangladesh at 25 percent of the total land area within 2030 and three trees should be planted if anyone cuts one tree.

The fair will be continued from July 13 to July 19 instant and 39 stalls of trees have been erected in the fair and chief guest and other guests visited the stalls and finally, the cheques of profit money from forestation were also distributed among the benefices of the division.
