The leaders and activists of different agro-based organisations have strongly protested the merging Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) with Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) by human chain held at Shatmatha in Bogura on early Saturday.

With the banners of Socheton Krishok Somaj, Khuddra Bebshahi Brindo, Oboshorprapto Kormokorta and Kormochari Kollan Somittee, Vumihin and Borga Chaci Somitee, Halka Prokoushol Bebshahi Brndhu and RAKUB kormo chai Songskod, huge number of people participated in the human chain.

Speakers were Senior vice-president of Oboshorprapto Kormokorta and Kormochari Kollan Somittee and DGM (Retired) and Freedom Fighter Shamsul Haque, President of the organization AGM (Retired) of RAKUB Mozaffar Hossain, AGM (Retired) Mejbaur Rahman Khan, Senior Officer (Retired) Rezaul Karim Khan, General Secretary of the same organization Abdur Rahim and others.

Speakers said that RAKUB has been rendering services to the root-level farmers of 16 districts of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions of the country from 1987 and has been contributing to the agriculture sectors a lot as the only regional bank in Bangladesh.

RAKUB secured its well position leaving the activities of BKB and in the national assembly, a RAKUB law was passed in 2014 and easy loan disbursement and easy loan services through modern and online banking apps encouraged the loan beneficiaries, added the speakers.

The speakers also added that the human chain strongly protested the merging RAKUB with the bad-state holder BKB as it will create bureaucratic complexity for the common people of the northern districts people.
