Santal Community celebrates int. women’s day in Gobindaganj

Santal community,the largest ethnic minority of the country   celebrates Int. women’s day in Gobindaganj on Friday.

Marking the day, Jana Uddyog, a social platform comprising with civil society members of the district chalked out the elaborate programmes.

The programmes included arrangement of gathering, holding cultural function and football match for the young women, prize distribution.

Apart from these, a discussion meeting was also on the ground of Joypur of the upazila in the district on the importance of the day WITH women leader of Santal community Pricilla Murmu in the chair.

Member secretary of Jana UddyogProbirChakrabartee, Convener of Adibashi-BangaliParishad of Sadarupazila unit Golam Rabbani Musa, Member Munir Hossain Sweet, santal leaders British Saren and Maria Murmu.

The speakers in their speeches said  Santal women are in  marginalized position and they are on the verge of existence.

They are deprived off various facilities as a result, they are vackward position. If such their condition continues, they would disappear from the country, they continued to say.

In this context, violence, torture and eviction against various ethnic groups, including Santals, must be stopped to prevent them from disappearing, they mentioned.
